Rainbow Filled Skies

I walk than run & only dream of flying the rainbow filled skies, then wake to find I have wings.
The lightness of heaven on my back, but my feet still planted on the dusty track
Looking up I see birds of flight, inspired & fueled with courage & might 

I spread my wings & fly

In the sky I trust not my wings to carry me through & so stumble & tumble through & through
I land on a cliff top oh so high, not confident, not sure, not ready to fly
My wings turn into blankets that keep me safe & warm
I watch the world in its glorious form
I wait...

I awake one day to find that it is time, to leave my haven, to truly shine
My blanket now wings, I am ready to try, with courage I soar through the rainbow filled sky
I am happy, no longer afraid, I know I can fly higher & watch the clouds fade
With determination I break through the clouds to a place of awe,
But like a child in first year I am unsure
Excitement& curiosity propel me forward in a place I do not know, but higher & higher I know I must go…
