Gratitude
One sunny day I ventured outside
On the green grass I plonked my hide
Thought I'd get some vitamin D
Little did I know the vision I'd see
It all started by looking at grass
Admiring its beauty, such a small task
I noticed details for years I had missed
The intricate patterns where the sun rays kissed
For the first time I really saw
What lay outside, my very front door
All this time I had failed to see
Nature’s beauty so wild and free
In that moment I broke into tears
To really see after so many years
I saw the universe all rolled into one
In a blade of grass…under the sun
My heart filled with love for all that I saw
Deep gratitude felt, strongly from core
In that moment I felt a buzz
Between my eyes, psychedelic fuzz
Had no idea what was happening to me
But very curious I wanted to see
The buzzing grew stronger between my eyes
Then a woman appeared to my surprise
She wore a white dress and sat by my side
And gently whispered you have opened your mind
Much was discussed about purpose and life
Even my hardships, challenges and strife
I needed to know why I was here
To create of course, she whispered my dear
But I haven’t painted since last been at school
And when I’ve tried I felt like a fool
For all my attempts turned murky and grey
Hidden in cupboards my art failures lay
Eventually garbage they’d all get thrown out
Why bother trying, what’s life about
So when she said I’m here to paint
My stomach did cartwheels, I wanted to faint
Ok I said, I’ve always loved art
And if this is my path, I’m willing to start
She smiled reassuringly and said create from love
Than all you paint will be blessed from above
So don’t be afraid push aside your doubt
You wanted to know what life was about
Through your works you’ll help others find
Their path, their hearts and peace of mind
May your artworks always be true
To who you are, the divine in you
So allow the energy to flow from above
And receive with gratitude this flowing love
So much was learnt that day
From gratitude I was shown the way
A grateful heart, was the key
In unlocking the awe filled child, sleeping in me...
